J a c k  E l l i s

Jack Ellis is an award winning, multi instrumentalist and singer songwriter from the southernmost point of South Wales. Crafting real songs from real stories his music takes influence from blues rock where his alternative production values and sharp hooks will appeal directly to fans of Jeff Buckley, The Black Keys, Gary Clarke Jr and Ben Howard.

Jack released his first solo recording ‘Pocket of Lint’ in 2014, which gained significant airplay from Edith Bowman (Virgin Radio), Adam Walton (BBC Introducing Wales), Andrew Shay (Nation Radio) and it also earned him a special guest appearance and live session with Dermot O’Leary on BBC Radio 2, alongside Biffy Clyro and Simon Le Bon.

In the months that followed Jack assembled a team of session players to compliment his signature sound and heartfelt lyrics. Returning to the studio in 2015, the first single released with this new line-up was ‘The Storm’, produced by Todd Campbell (The People The Poet, Peasant’s King, Phil Campbell And The Bastard Sons) at Stompbox Studios, the track was once again debuted by request on Dermot O’Leary’s BBC Radio 2 show.

‘The Storm’ also received critical praise from the likes of Bethan Elfyn and Adam Walton (BBC Introducing Wales), Vents Magazine, Candid Magazine, GigSlutz, Fame Magazine, Vinyl District, Fortitude Magazine, Cultured Vultures, Americana UK, Indie Obsessed, Going Solo, The Revue Magazine and featured in ‘33 Essential Songs From Wales You Must Listen To’ on Wales Online.

in 2016 Jack took home ‘Best Breakthrough Artist’ at Cardiff Music Awards and was shortlisted for ‘Best Solo Artist’ in the Best of British Unsigned. After a packed out year of gigs including a 7 date Italian tour Jack got the chance to play at London 02 Arena’s priority Lounge at Bastilles gig, Ronnie Scott’s in Soho London, Green Gathering Festival, Looe Festival and BBC Carfest North and South.

In 2017 Jack was awarded ‘Best Solo Artist’ at Cardiff Music Awards and in 2020 won ‘Best Musical Collaboration’ at WigWam Awards featuring Cardiff based singersongwriter Alcie Bela.

In 2020 as the pandemic hit, so did a house fire resulting in Jack and Alcie forming a power duo and setting up a studio in the French Forest. Here he has recorded his debut album set to release early 2023.
